Snacks for Athletes

Snacks for Athletes
Snacks for Athletes was launched in 2026 with funding from the Second Round Foundation to combat food insecurity by providing young student athletes, who are a part of the 75% of New York City public school students classified as economically disadvantaged, with the nutrition needed to play afterschool sports.
There is inconsistent provision of afterschool snacks for students, especially when students are competing off their home campus. Without sufficient nutrition, students find it difficult to participate in sport activities. The Snacks for Athletes program has started with a pilot partnership with one middle school in Manhattan where we are delivering healthy, non-perishable, and easily transportable snacks so coaches can bring them to away games. Our hope is to expand this program in partnership with more schools across the five boroughs.
